Buxton – The Crescent

Buxton Crescent is a Grade 1 listed building designed by the architect John Carr of York and built for the 5th Duke of Devonshire between 1780 and 1789. The building is located in Buxton in the Peak District. A stunning architectural design it owes much to the Royal Crescent in Bath but is much more richly decorated and more complex. The Crescent is now a 5 star spa hotel. The elegant arches and intricate details of the building create a timeless and striking image.

The Writing Shed at Laugharne – Dylan Thomas

Enter the world of renowned poet Dylan Thomas as you step into his writing shed in Laugharne. The furnishings are sparse: a stove, a couple of old kitchen chairs, a table and a bookcase evoking an atmosphere of creativity and solitude. Dingy brown curtains hang at the double-casement window, framing the view of the estuary. On the white-painted walls are curling photographs of poets — among them Byron, W H Auden and the other Welsh Thomas poets.

Herdwick sheep are a breed of domestic sheep originating in the United Kingdom. They are native to the Lake District of Cumbria in North West England. The name of the breed is derived from the Old Norse herdvyck, which means sheep pasture. Herdwick have traditionally been bred in the fells and pastures of the Lake District in Cumbria but they are now widely seen throughout the United Kingdom.
