It is also the site of one of the earliest hill forts in Britain and one of the largest in Britain, with evidence of occupation from around 1200 BC. It is also known as the ‘Shivering Mountain’. The views from the top of Mam Tor are some of the best in the country and iconic in Peak District landscape photography.
